Their love story finale came true.
It had to end.
Jamie Sale and David Pelletier were the golden couple of the 2002 Olympic games. They were the media's favorite couple in love - both attractive, personable, and world class athletes to boot.
What the media didn't unveil to the general crowd was that the couple had always had a rocky past.
It was reported that while Pelletier was dating his first wife, he fell in love with Sale which in the end caused his first divorce.
This should've been a major red flag on the part of Sale, but when the two of them had chemistry as shown in this next program, I'm sure the hormones couldn't help but rage together.
Watching the two of them flirt with one another, glare at one another, and smile at one another made any grown man secretly melt inside. But what was shown on camera wasn't always present off camera.
David Pelletier was known to have quite a redheaded temper. At the 2002 Canadian National Championships, Pelletier exploded his anger after a poor performance and yelled excessively at Sale and their coach. After apologizing, their perfect relationship portrayed to the media began to the come to light.
All was forgotten when they had the skate of their lives at the Olympics and were in the middle of the biggest judging scandal in figure skating history.
Soon afterwards, they were showing off their perfect teeth in Crest commercials, having a homecoming skating special, and becoming excessively rich.
In 2005 they finally tied the knot, and in 2007 they welcomed their son into the world, Jesse.
Rumors of the couple separating have been circling the internet for a couple years with various sources concluding that there have been affairs and cheating. At the 2010 Olympics, their commentating gig showed that the two were not on speaking terms, and on the 2010 Stars on Ice tour, reviews have said that the couple look as if they wanted to be anywhere but together. Not until this last week have the couple made it official.
Unfortunately, it's just another day in splitsville.
