Most skating fans would agree that compulsory dances are the most monotonous and painstakingly boring aspects of figure skating.
However, if you take one look at the compulsory dances of Maya Usova and Alexander Zhulin, all preconceived notions are blown away.
I think they should give seminars for every dance ever invented.
These two were the perfect pairing: beautifully matched soft knees, impeccable posture, and speed that erupted out of nowhere. She was dainty and wistful; he was masculine and steady.
Pasha may have snatched (and dumped) Alexander, but she never had the compulsories that Maya ever did.

I was never even the slightest bit interested in ice dancing.........until watching this. Beautiful.
